1248 to go

1248 to go.
That’s the number of burger patties our 4H club has to sell at this weekend’s Harvest Festival. We earn a decent profit which lets our club do activities at no cost to the members. Getting voluteers to help is difficult. When it is all finished & the grease is scrubbed off there will be […]

Sweet potato gardening experiment

Posted: Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 @ 6:55 pm in DYI/Homesteading, Homelife, Gardening | No Comments »

I have a sweet potato gardening experiment growing on our window sill. I think it might be a success.
Every year for the past few years I have tried to grow sweet potatoes. The first years I ordered slips from Johnny’s Select Seeds.  Every year it seems nothing went right - the plants were neglected, ignored and […]

We finished our funeral leave and arrived home late Friday night. Visitation (wake for those not Southern) was long for the younger crew, for the last hour I took them for ice cream while Daddy stayed to finished greeting. The local McD’s is slooooow & I hadn’t been to the hometown for years so a trip […]

Under the weather

So sorry not to have written sooner but under the weather aptly describes the way life has been going.
**Grandbaby boy spent three days in the hospital with a virus. The fever would be moderate in an older child but not in one only four weeks old. Lots of weird diapers, up-chucking, and pedialyte. (cherry is […]

On her first birthday

Posted a bit late.
On her first birthday, she went to the park:

Played in the water…

Checked it all out…

Thought it all over…

Found it all fine…

Fed some small fishes…

Had a good time.

Counted her candles…

Looked at some gifts…

Helped out the Momma….

Tasted the cake…

It too was fine.

Ended with ice cream.

Bye-bye…

Well, it seems we will be moving in the not so distance future. DH has been wanting to move closer to his father - an hour+ drive is just too much, esp. since his mother has passed on.
Photo #1 This is the front of the house - The ramp will be coming off - after […]

Tale of Two Hospitals

Setting the stage:
Mrs. Fyah had a due date of August 1. That day came and went a looooong time ago. Her water finally broke Saturday morning.
Our church was having an ice cream supper - homemade of course. It was to be Saturday evening, outside with horseshoes, volleyball, waterballoons, watersprinkler, and various combinations of water-balloons-volleyball-children. The […]
